Accessibility Statement

Last updated: April 30, 2026

Built to Thrive© is committed to making our website, guides, tools, and resources as accessible and usable as reasonably possible.

We want Canadian small business owners to be able to access our content clearly, regardless of ability, device, browser, or assistive technology.

1. Our Accessibility Goal

Our goal is to provide a website that is clear, readable, navigable, and practical for users. We aim to improve accessibility over time by considering recognized accessibility practices, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines where practical. Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time task.

2. What We Are Working Toward

We aim to support accessibility through:

  • clear page structure
  • readable headings
  • plain-language content
  • sufficient colour contrast where possible
  • descriptive link text
  • keyboard-friendly navigation where supported by the website theme and plugins
  • alt text for meaningful images where practical
  • readable font sizes
  • consistent layouts
  • captions or text support for video content where available
  • reduced reliance on images as the only way to communicate important information

3. Website Content

Built to Thrive uses WordPress, themes, plugins, embedded media, forms, and third-party tools to operate the website. We make reasonable efforts to keep our own website content readable and accessible. However, some accessibility features may depend on third-party tools, plugins, video platforms, payment systems, form tools, or embedded content that we do not fully control.

4. Downloadable Files and Digital Tools

Built to Thrive may provide downloadable resources such as:

  • PDFs
  • Excel workbooks
  • spreadsheets
  • templates
  • checklists
  • worksheets
  • guides
  • toolkits

Some downloadable files, especially spreadsheets and workbooks, may not be fully accessible to all users or all assistive technologies. Where possible, we try to make content clear, organized, and easy to understand. If you have difficulty accessing a downloadable resource, contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to provide assistance or an alternative format where practical.

5. Videos and Embedded Content

Our website may include embedded videos from platforms such as YouTube. Embedded content may rely on third-party accessibility features, including captions, transcripts, keyboard controls, or player settings.

Where practical, we aim to provide clear titles, captions, descriptions, or supporting text for videos.

6. Known Limitations

Some parts of the website or downloadable materials may not yet meet every accessibility standard. Known or possible limitations may include:

  • older PDFs or downloadable files that may not be fully tagged for screen readers
  • spreadsheet tools that may require Excel or similar software
  • third-party checkout, form, email, or video tools
  • embedded content from external platforms
  • images, diagrams, or charts that may need additional text explanation
  • theme or plugin elements outside our full control

We aim to improve these areas over time.

7. Feedback and Accessibility Requests

If you experience difficulty using the website or accessing a Built to Thrive resource, contact us. Please include:

  • the page or file you were trying to access
  • the issue you experienced
  • the device, browser, or assistive technology you were using, if relevant
  • the format or support that would help

Contact:

  • reviewing colour contrast
  • adding or improving alt text
  • improving video captions and descriptions
  • simplifying layouts
